Own a share in a Fractional Jet and plan on traveling for the holidays? How about a membership in a Destination Club, and would you like to utlize your clubs access to a private jet to get you there? With the holidays approaching many destination clubs, fractional aircraft and even fractional yacht programs will experience extremely high demand. Quite possibly, if you haven't already made your reservations you may already be locked out or be required to pay a premium.
Most owners of memberships in fractional aircraft or destination club programs have experienced the "peak travel" deadlines before. If your a new member to the club, it may be time to contact your customer service department for clarification on "peak travel" or "high demand" restrictions. While every program has different rules and even different days that are considered "peak or "high demand" days, all have rules regarding availabilty and access during high demand periods.
Many members seem to run into these issues during the first year in their program. While others may have this issue while trying to organize a family holiday vacation. It's important to remember that with membership in any program the availability of the property, aircraft, yacht or even auto may be single biggest factor in deciding when and where.
Remember we're primarily talking about holiday access and specifically November through January. For example, you can expect the two or three days prior to Thanksgiving or Christmas to be peak or high demand periods for almost all of the aircraft or jet programs, and that depends on how the holiday falls on the calendar.
Your ownership manual and contracts should be reviewed to ensure that your plans for a holiday vacation will mean that you are able to utilize the assets of your fractional or destination club membership. While most programs offer various levels of membership with the higher levels having the least restrictions, be sure to ask about alternate days or if you can pay a premium to ensure availability but by all means call and check as the holidays are fast approaching.
