DALLAS, Texas, Feb. 13, 2006 - As the launch customer for the new Bombardier Learjet 40 XR, Bombardier Flexjet, the fractional business jet ownership program of Bombardier Aerospace, announced the induction of the first three aircraft into the Flexjet fractional fleet. Flexjet will take delivery of an additional four Learjet 40 XR aircraft in 2006 and current backorder of share sales reflects robust market demand for the new jet.
According to Rick Handschuch, Flexjet chief pilot, the first two Learjet 40 XR aircraft, based at Flexjet facilities in Dallas, have already elicited rave reviews from pilots and customers. “Learjets are pacesetting high-performance jets, and the Flexjet pilots who fly them and the fractional customers who own them tend to be true enthusiasts,” said Handschuch. The new Learjet 40 XR offers the highest performance characteristics in the light jet class, surpassing the already-outstanding Learjet 40, and both our pilots and owners are ecstatic about this jet,” said Handschuch. “Its setting a new standard in its class and its a thrilling aircraft to pilot and experience as a business jet traveler.”
Among the new performance milestones set by the new Learjet 40 XR are the ability to fly even farther under hot and high conditions and out of challenging airfields, faster time-to-climb performance and reduced flight times. The performance achievements were accomplished chiefly through a powerplant enhancement – with the addition of newly upgraded Honeywell TFE731-20-BR twin turbofan engines, which have been in service on the Learjet 45 XR super light business jet – another outstanding aircraft in the Flexjet fleet.
