London, 4 July 2006 - NetJets, the European leader in corporate jet travel has taken delivery of its 100th aircraft. The delivery of the jet – a Raytheon Hawker 800XP – marks a milestone in the phenomenal growth of the company, and the European private jet market.
The Hawker 800XP will be the only member of the NetJets fleet to carry the companys insignia - for a limited period of time. A custom-made placard, next to the entry door of the aircraft, will bear the words ‘NetJets 100 Europe to mark the jets very special status.
The new plane, one of 27 Hawker 800XPs in the fleet, is a mid-size jet, capable of flying six passengers in comfort on journeys up to 4,800km or a flight from London to Sharm El Sheikh. It is just one of the 30 new aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2006 – an investment of $450 million in the NetJets Europe fleet.
NetJets fleet of 100 jets makes it by far the largest private jet operator in Europe, and Europes 9th largest airline by fleet size. The fleet is comprised of aircraft from Cessna, Dassault, Gulfstream and Raytheon. Beginning 2006 with 89 aircraft, this years scheduled deliveries are set to increase that number by a third to a total fleet size of 119.
Starting with a base of 16 jets and 89 clients in January 2002, NetJets service and product offering has spearheaded the growth in European private aviation. NetJets clients now number more than a thousand, with over 400 new customers added in the last year alone.
The surge in demand for NetJets' planes, and subsequent demand for new business jets, has come both from buyers of the fractional ownership programme and the NetJets card programmes. NetJets has made private jet travel more accessible with prices starting at just £85,000 for 25 hours of occupied flying time.
Speaking today, Mark Booth, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NetJets Europe said:
“We are delighted to reach this milestone as we continue to grow to meet the needs of our expanding customer base.”
Jim Schuster, chairman and chief executive officer at Raytheon Aircraft Company commented:
“We would like to congratulate NetJets Europe for reaching this milestone. NetJets has long been an extremely valued customer, and we look forward to our relationship continuing to grow as the company expands further in the future.”
